Medicare Supplement
Medigap, also known as Medicare supplement, it is a type of supplemental insurance that helps pay for the medical expenses that are not covered by Original Medicare. Medigap plans can help you avoid the 20% coinsurance you would otherwise pay for many services that are covered by Medicare Part A or Part B.
This insurance helps you pay for things like copays and deductibles, coinsurance, and hospital bills. Medigap policies are standardized and sold by private insurance companies.
Medigap plans sold to people new to Medicare can no longer cover the Part B deductible. Plans C and F are no longer available to people new to Medicare on or after January 1, 2020
If you were eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020, but not yet enrolled, you may be able to buy one of these plans that cover the Part B deductible (Plan C or F). If you already have or were covered by Plan C or F (or the Plan F high deductible before January 1, 2020 you can keep you plan.)
Keep in mind each state has different guidelines. In order to purchase a Medigap plan, you must be enrolled in Part A and Part B.
